FIP Information

In Norway, FIP can be used on the public passenger rail services of the railway undertakings commissioned by the state. The traffic packages are awarded in tendering procedures by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Vy Group AS is printed on the FIP Card and the FIP Coupons, but travel is possible on the trains of the operators Vy Tog, SJ Nord and Go-Ahead Nordic. Details can be found on the operator page.

Identify Train Operators and Search Connections

Entur Website

Using the journey planner, journeys and trains can be searched for. In the detailed view of the connection, the train operator is specified. For cross-border connections, several operators are often involved, which is not always displayed correctly in the journey planner.

DB Website

You can search for trains using the journey planner. In the More Information section for each train, the operator is specified. For cross-border connections, multiple operators are often involved.

(The operator information is correct in almost all cases. Outside Germany, operator details may be incorrect if train numbers are used more than once.)

Interesting

The Norwegian railway network is rather small by international comparison, but it is technically well maintained and exceptionally scenic. The focus is on long main routes between Oslo and the most important regions. Important lines include the Bergen Line, Dovre Line, Sørland Line and the Nordland Line to Bodø.

The trains are predominantly modern, clean and comfortable, although the standard on long-distance routes is higher than in regional transport. Frequencies are usually lower outside the greater Oslo area. Punctuality is generally considered good, but can be limited due to weather conditions such as snow, storms or avalanche risk.

Particularly noteworthy are the scenically spectacular routes with fjords, high mountains and numerous tunnels, as well as several architecturally striking railway stations, especially along the newer extensions in the Oslo area.

The state-owned company Entur plays a central role in public transport in Norway. Timetables can be checked and tickets for all public transport in Norway can be booked via the website and app.
