FIP Information

The railway network in Ireland is operated by the state railway company Irish Rail (Iarnród Éireann). FIP discounts apply to all Irish Rail trains.

Identify Train Operators and Search Connections
With the exception of special services, Irish Rail is the only operator of regular train services in Ireland.

Irish Rail Website

The Irish Rail website lists all train services operated by Irish Rail. The Enterprise Service between Dublin and Belfast is also listed, however it is only operated by Irish Rail between Dublin and Dundalk, see also Arrival and Border Points.

DB Website

You can search for trains using the journey planner. In the More Information section for each train, the operator is specified. For cross-border connections, multiple operators are often involved.

(The operator information is correct in almost all cases. Outside Germany, operator details may be incorrect if train numbers are used more than once.)

Interesting

The railway network in Ireland is radially oriented around Dublin, from where connections lead to many regions of the country. The frequency between larger cities is generally good. In more rural regions, frequencies are sometimes significantly lower.

Reservations are not mandatory, but are recommended due to the often high occupancy.
